Conviction for in-home robbery may net woman up to 20 years in prison

KEARNEY — The fourth suspect in a south Kearney in-home robbery has been convicted for her role in the incident.

Shakira Davis, 33, pleaded no contest in Buffalo County District Court to burglarizing Jason Singleterry’s home June 1, felony theft in another home burglary June 15, and misdemeanor trespassing at another home June 1 in the 400 block of West 25th Street.

Judge Bill Wright ordered Davis to undergo a presentence investigation report with a drug and alcohol evaluation to be conducted by the state probation department. Those findings will be returned to Wright to use in determining a sentence.

Sentencing will be in January.

On June 1, Davis and three other Kearneyites broke into Singleterry’s home in the 1300 block of Avenue G. Davis is accused of burglarizing the home.

The three other suspects were convicted for their roles in the robbery earlier this month.

On June 15, Davis received stolen property worth more than $1,500 from a burglary in the 1700 block of East 34th Street. On that same day, she also trespassed in the home in the 400 block of West 25th Street.

Davis is being held at the Buffalo County Detention Center on several bonds. She faces one to 20 years in prison for the felonies and up to one year in jail for trespassing.
