GIBBON — The first tiny pea pod had emerged and rhubarb stalks with elephant ear leaves were ready to eat last week in Kathy Bishop’s garden northwest of Gibbon.

But she and many other fruit and vegetable growers who sell produce at area farmers markets still have a lot of starter plants and seeds to put into the ground this growing season.
