NORTH PLATTE — Critics of the Golden Spike Tower and Visitor Center cannot challenge a city ordinance defining how the project is funded, Lincoln County District Judge John P. Murphy has ruled.

In a lengthy and often biting ruling issued Monday, Murphy ruled that a petition circulated by members of the Western Nebraska Taxpayers Association is in violation of state statutes and the Lincoln County Clerk shall not consider or report any results on the referendum that is printed on the May 11 ballot.
