AFTER 78 YEARS of business, McCue’s owners Myron McCue and his brother, Lyle, closed their downtown grocery store. Their father, Thad, opened the store in 1925. It was known for its fresh produce, grass seed, water softener salt and private label pet food, according to a Jan. 4, 2003, article on its closing.

The question of whether or not the Platte River is navigable has been settled by two Cozad men, at least to their own satisfaction. They undertook a trip on the river and made it successfully. They made a round trip from Cozad to Gothenburg in a home-built motorboat.
