LINCOLN — Seventy percent of the corn crop was silking, and nearly two-thirds of the soybeans were blooming as of Monday after another hot, dry growing season week, according to the Nebraska field office of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

The corn silking number compares with 38 percent on average. Eight percent had reached dough stage, compared with 2 percent on average.
