Two Kearney venues will debut hearing loop upgrades
Carol Lomicky and Eileen Dakan look forward to enjoying performances at Merryman Performing Arts Center. The women, who live with hearing loss, recently experimented with a new hearing loop at the venue. The system debuts Thursday during “The Wonder Bread Years,” a one-man show featuring Pat Hazell. KEARNEY — Eileen Dakan and Carol Lomicky sat in the seats of Merryman Performing Arts Center and listened.
Theater technician Shawn Dieger stood on stage and spoke into a microphone, testing the ability of the recently installed hearing loop system to provide a clear sound to patrons. The women — both living with various degrees of hearing loss — helped Dieger make adjustments to the system.
