KEARNEY — Freedom Fest, the traditional Fourth of July celebration with a carnival and fireworks, is set for 5-10:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Viaero Event Center, 609 Platte Road.

Along with food and music, it will include a freefall tower, a ropes course, a bungee trampoline, a Ferris wheel and more activities.

The United Way of the Kearney Area is putting on the free event for the second consecutive year. Donations are welcome but not necessary. There will be a small charge for some of the attractions.

At 10 p.m. the fireworks, which are presented by Cunningham’s Journal and the city of Kearney, will begin.
