UPDATE 2:30 PM — The Lexington Police Department has identified the victim as 22-year-old Lexington resident Hussein Nuri. 

LEXINGTON — A Lexington man has died due to injuries from a physical assault during the weekend, according to reports.

The Lexington Police Department said rescue and law enforcement personnel were dispatched at 1:33 a.m. Saturday to the area of Tep’s Bar and Grill at Fifth and Grant streets for an unresponsive male in the parking lot. The man had injuries consistent with being the victim of an assault, according to reports.

The 22-year-old man was transported by rescue personnel to the Lexington Regional Health Center, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical personnel a short time later.

After gathering information from the scene, the Lexington Police Department located the male suspect and vehicle at 4 a.m. Saturday near Ninth and Erie streets. The male suspect was identified as Jorge Vasquez, 24, of Lexington.

He was arrested and is being held at the Dawson County Jail. He is charged with second-degree murder, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and drug paraphernalia.

The case is being investigated. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
