KEARNEY – Entrepreneurs are invited to submit ideas to the Central Nebraska Business Idea Contest until 5 p.m. Oct. 28. The contest is sponsored by the Center for Rural Research and Development at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
“Your business idea does not have to be a fully thought-out business model,” Shawn Kaskie, director for the UNK CRRD, said. “It can be a description of the product or service, what need it serves, who your customers might be and how you would make it available to those customers.”
There is no age limit for contestants.
To enter, simply submit a two-minute video of yourself pitching your idea, post in on YouTube and paste the URL at app.pitchburner.com/s1/site/unk. People who need video equipment can stop by the CRRD on in the West the UNK campus and film their pitch at that office.
The top 10 participants will be invited to present their ideas in a five-minute question and answer session at 7 p.m. Nov. 13 in downtown Kearney at a location to be determined. The crowd will select the winners. Prizes are $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place.
The event is sponsored by the Economic Development Council of Buffalo County, Invest Nebraska Corp. and the Center for Research and Development in the UNK College of Business and Technology.
