Kearney man hospitalized after being shot in the head following a disturbance

Investigators with the Kearney Police Department were on the scene this morning investigating a shooting Monday night at 1925 Ave. F in southeast Kearney.

KEARNEY — Kearney police believe Joshua Rose was shot at his home Monday night as the result of a botched home invasion robbery.

Tuesday afternoon Kearney Police Department Capt. Mike Kirkwood said the shooting at 1925 Ave. F was isolated.


KEARNEY — A Kearney man was shot in the head Monday night following a disturbance in southeast Kearney.

Around 10:34 p.m. emergency personnel was called to 1925 Ave. F for a victim with a gunshot wound to the head.

Joshua Rose, 24, was transported to CHI Health Good Samaritan, said Kearney Police Department Capt. Mike Kirkwood. No information was being released from the hospital today on Rose’s condition.

The shooting happened inside Rose’s home at 1925 Ave. F, Kirkwood said. A 19-year-old male, who also was inside the house, was physically assaulted in the incident but refused medical treatment.

This morning, KPD officers were investigating others who may have been in the house at the time of the incident. The 19-year-old man is not a suspect, Kirkwood said.

No other injuries were reported. The investigation continues.
