KEARNEY — Betty DeBeck, 91, of Kearney died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at St. John’s Good Samaritan Society in Kearney.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Kearney with the Rev. Drs. Michelle Holley Carlson and Rick Carlson officiating. Inurnment will be at the church columbarium.

O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church.

Betty Jean DeBeck was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Phoenixville, Pa., to Edward and Irene (Zieser) Donohue. She grew up and graduated high school from Spring City, Pa.

Betty married Edward DeBeck, and to this union four children were blessed: Deb, Edward Jr., Doreen and Ronald.

In her younger years, Betty and Edward enjoyed dancing. Betty served as a Girl Scout Brownie leader for several years. She was an avid sports fan and always loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed making cards, knitting, crocheting and painting, along with teaching people how to paint.

Betty was a member of First Lutheran Church in Kearney where she was very active in numerous activities.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Deb (Randy) Erickson of Kearney, Edward (Mary Beth) DeBeck Jr. of Elma, Wash., and Ronald (Devonia) DeBeck of Oakville, Ontario, Canada; grandchildren, Dallas DeBeck of Olympia, Wash., A. J. (Kaylee) DeBeck of Tacoma, Wash., Olivia (Alex) Villarreal of Austin, Texas, Abbi DeBeck of Porter, Texas, Lilli (Austin) Sousa of Mississauga, Canada, Matthew (Geraldine) Erickson of Bassett, Melinda Erickson of Kearney and Brandi Reiter of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Colin, Megan and Cody Erickson, Luna DeBeck and Ashlyn Sousa; as well as several other extended family members and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Edward Sr.
