MINDEN — Elmer Lee Schroer, 81, of Gibbon died Friday, July 12, 2019, at Bethany Home in Minden.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel in Kearney with the Rev. Dean Pofahl officiating.


He was born on a farm outside of Kearney on Jan. 17, 1938, to Charles and Bettie (Fox) Schroer. He was the youngest of seven siblings.

After completing a tour in the U.S. Navy, he married Karen Marie Lyons of Kearney in 1958.

Survivors include his wife, Karen of Gibbon; his brother, Fay of Kearney; children, Bruce (Eva) of Lead Hill, Ark., Bryon of Lincoln and Thrisha (Terry) Webster of Peachtree City, Ga.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Gibbon Volunteer Fire Department.
