KEARNEY — Frances M. "Franny" Hancock, 79, of Kearney died Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Kearney Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services with the Rev. Clarence Patterson officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.


Franny was born Nov. 26, 1939, in Kearney to Tony and Ruth (Knox) Miller. She attended school in Riverdale, graduating with the class of 1958 as valedictorian.

After high school, she attended LPN school at St. Anthony Practical Nursing School in Denver. She was a nurse in Superior and Thornton, Colo., and returned to Kearney in 1976, where she worked at Good Samaritan. She retired in 2004.

Franny was a strong woman who survived breast cancer three times. She enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, gambling and especially playing cards with her friends at Cimarron Court.

Survivors include two daughters, Edith Timko of Kearney and Vivian Hancock of Lincoln; a son, Richard and wife Trish of Kearney; a brother, Lawrence and wife Sally Miller of Minot, N.D.; two sisters, Virginia and husband Joe Brayton of Kearney and Patricia and husband Wilbur Baldwin of Mitchell, S.D.; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Hancock; and a sister, Marlene Trump.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated later.
