KEARNEY — Leiton E. “Swede” Anderson, 71, of Kearney died Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at CHI Health Good Samaritan.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services with the Rev. James DeLoach officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. The casket will be closed.
He passed away after a long illness.
Leiton was born Nov. 23, 1947, in Scottsbluff to Richard and Elsie (Johnson) Anderson. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972.
On Aug. 17, 1973, he married Debra Jaeger. To this union was born a daughter, Deena.
He worked at the University of Nebraska at Kearney as a carpenter for 25 years. He retired due to illness.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie of Kearney; a sister, Jan and husband Don Banks of Imperial; nephews, Doug Banks of Lincoln and Jason and wife Michelle Banks of Imperial; and grandniece, Peyton Banks and a grandnephew, Logan Banks, both of Imperial.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his only daughter, Deena Strieder.
