MINDEN — Maryln B. Ransdell, 81, of Ragan, died on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Kearney County Health Services in Minden.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ragan United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Thomasen officiating. Burial will be at Freewater Cemetery in rural Ragan.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege with the family present 6-7:30 p.m.
She was born on Aug. 4, 1937, in Harlan County, east of Alma, the only daughter of Margaret E. Jensen. Maryln attended Ragan Public Schools until the 10th grade, when her family moved near Huntley. She then attended Huntley High School, through the 12th grade.
On June 12, 1960, she was united in marriage to George William Ransdell at the United Methodist Church in Alma. The couple were blessed with three children: Carol Ann, Duane Lynn and Bruce Allen. The family lived in Ragan, where Maryln focused on raising the children and tending to their home.
In 1989, George was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and Maryln selflessly cared for him at home until 2000, when his health required him to move to Christian Homes. George preceded her in death on April 30, 2005. Maryln continued to live in Ragan until May 2019, when she began to make her home at the Bethany Home in Minden.
Maryln was a devoted, fun-loving mother and grandmother, who always gave of her time and her heart to her family. She was a member of the Ragan United Methodist Church.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Beth Ransdell in infancy; brothers-in-law, Dale Holm and Clinton "Barney" Ransdell; sisters-in-law, Grace Schuman and her husband, Frank, Vivian Heidemann and her husband, Willis, Alice Abramson and her husband, Jim, Cora Mae Hill and her husband, Bert Corden, and Shirley Ransdell.
She leaves to celebrate her life her daughter, Carol Ransdell of Minden; two sons, Duane Ransdell and his wife, Cheryl, of Columbus and Bruce Ransdell and his fiancée, Brandi Benham, of Kearney; four grandchildren, Dakota Wilson of Minden, Morgan Huxoll and her husband, Kaleb, of Hendley and Jakob Ransdell and Carter Ransdell, both of Kearney; one great-grandchild on the way; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Holm of Holdrege; brother-in-law, Harvey Ransdell and his wife, Iona, of Wilcox; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; along with other loving relatives and many friends.
A memorial has been established in Maryln’s memory, and kindly suggested to the Ragan United Methodist Church.
