KEARNEY — University of Nebraska at Kearney men’s basketball coach Kevin Lofton the addition of transfers RJ Pair and Jake Walker on Monday.
The two junior college signings come after the Lopers posted a 10-18 season and lost four players to transfer after the season, including leading scorer Kanon Koster.
Pair and Walker have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Pair, a 6-foot, 175-pound guard, spent two years at MIAA-member Pittsburg State before playing at Garden City (Kan.) Community College last season.
He played in 27 games as a freshman in 2016-17, averaging 8.4 points and 1.9 per bounds per game. He redshirted as a sophomore, and then departed Pitt State for Garden City after the 2017-18 season.
Pair appeared in 27 games with Garden City last season, shooting 40 percent from the 3-point line. He averaged 5.5 points per game on 43.2 percent shooting.
Walker, who’s 6-2, 180 pounds, was one of the top scorers at Snow (Utah) Junior College the last two years. He made 151 3s and averaged 12.6 points per game in his two seasons.
UNK returns starters Kyle Juhl, AJ Jackson and Sam Morris to the starting lineup.
UNK signed Wahoo standout Winston Cook in November. Cook was named this year’s Nebraska Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Year. Cedric Johnson and Noah Valasek also are eligible next season after both redshirting during their first year in the program.
