Evon Young (19) was the starting pitcher for Kearney Jersey’s vs Smith Center at Memorial Field in Kearney on Sunday.

KEARNEY — Kearney Jersey’s Seniors scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh Sunday afternoon to claim an 8-7 win over Smith Center, Kan.

Capping their own tournament with a walk-off victory, Jersey’s scored the winning runs on a two-run double by Jackson Miller.

Miller finished 2 for 5 with two doubles and three RBIs. Kaden Bonner, Dylan Burkey and Patrick Blake had doubles as Kearney collected five hits.

Jaren Burns, Kearney’s third pitcher, got the victory. He pitched the last 1 2/3 innings, striking out two. Evan Young was the starter with Ryan lark facing one batter in the sixth.

Jersey’s took a 5-0 lead in the second inning but Smith Center scored two in the fourth before rallying for five in the sixth to take the lead.

On Saturday, Jersey’s lost to Ogallala 15-1.

Ogallala had 10 hits and didn’t commit an error. Jersey’s had three hits and five errors.

Burkey doubled for Kearney’s lone extra-base hit. Young’s RBI single in the fourth inning scored Miller with Kearney’s only run. The run was scored after Ogallala built a 6-1 lead.

Ogallala answered with nine runs in the fifth

Blake was the losing pitcher.

Jersey’s (10-9) will play Central City on Tuesday at Memorial Field.

In other games, Kearney Five Points Juniors will play Central City in the early game Tuesday at Memorial Field, starting at 5 p.m.

Kearney Runza Seniors and Post 52 Juniors are in action tonight at Grand Island game before traveling to Lexington on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, they will be at home to face Hastings.
