NORTH PLATTE — Trey Rodriguez connected for two doubles and drove in three runs as Kearney Runza Seniors posted a 9-1 mercy-rule victory Tuesday night in a Cornhusker League game at North Platte.

Leading 2-0, Kearney rallied for five runs in the fourth to take control of the game.

Rodriguez and Korbin Rich delivered two-run doubles in Kearney’s rally.

On the mound, Keegan Thurston pitched a five-inning, complete-game, two-hitter, striking out seven. He didn’t walk a batter.

Thursday, Kearney Runza (9-5) will host Scottsbluff in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m.

North Platte 9, Post 52 1

NORTH PLATTE — North Platte rallied for four runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back, beating Kearney Post 52 Juniors 9-1 Tuesday night at Bill Wood Field in North Platte.

North Platte pitcher Will Coe stopped Kearney (9-6) on three hits. He struck out six and walked four.

Alex Schall was 2 for 2 for Kearney and Nick Carlson connected for a double.

Jersey’s 8, Kearney Co. 3

KEARNEY — Kearney Jersey’s Seniors rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Kearney County 8-3 Tuesday night at Memorial Field.

A two-out, two-run single by John Unruh was the key hit in the sixth-inning that started with a one-out single by Anthony Becker. Two walks, a hit batter and an error gave Kearney a 5-3 lead before Unruh delivered. Caden Peterson followed with a single that scored another run.

Unruh was 3 for 4 with three RBIs.

Jaren Burns was the winning pitcher, entering the game in the fourth and allowing one hit and one walk over 3 ²⁄³ innings. He struck out two.

Evan Young started for Kearney, allowing two hits in 3 ¹⁄³ innings. He struck out five and walked five.

Kearney Co. 11, Five Points 10

KEARNEY — The Kearney County Juniors bolted to a 7-0 lead and held on to beat Kearney Five Points 11-10 Tuesday at Memorial Field.

Kearney scored two in the third, five in the fourth and three in the fifth but Kearney County extended its lead with a four-run fourth.

Five Points had the tying run on second base when the game ended.

Jais Gappa went 3 for 4 and drove in two runs for Five Points. Peyton Larson was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
