KEARNEY – University of Nebraska at Kearney head football coach Josh Lynn announced the addition of Drew Thatcher as the new quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator on Monday.

The New Mexico native replaces Kevin Bleil who left the program in November for a position with Division I FCS Stephen F. Austin State (Texas).

Lynn said he will remain the Lopers primary play caller, a role he handled the past two seasons.

Thatcher comes to UNK after spending the past seven seasons at New Mexico Military Institute, a junior college program.

He coached current UNK players David Goodwin and Sedarius Young at NMMI.

Quarterbacks who have worked with Thatcher include Jordan Ta’amu (Ole Miss), Conner Cramer (New Mexico St.) and Quinn Billerman (North Carolina Central).

Ta’amu started 17 games for Ole Miss the past two years and has been invited to this year’s NFL draft combine.
