KEARNEY — Senior Danielle Dickerson and sophomore Nia Station made the All-MIAA women’s golf team.
The league’s 10 head coaches vote on the makeup of the squad and can’t vote for their own players.
Station earned second-team honors with Dickerson receiving honorable mention. They become the third and fourth Lopers, respectively, to earn all-league honors since UNK joined the MIAA in 2012-13.
A transfer from Division I Alabama State, Station has led UNK with a 78.27 stroke average this season.
Dickerson has an 82.91 stroke average to date with two rounds below 80.
Northwest Missouri sophomore golfer Morgan Thiele, a Kearney native, received honorable mention.
Thiele has a team-best 79.79 stroke average and has played nine rounds sub-80 this year.
UNK in sixth place after first day of MIAA Championship
MAYETTA, Kan. — The University of Nebraska at Kearney women’s golf team is in sixth place after the first day of the MIAA Championships in Mayetta, Kan.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the par-72 Firekeeper Golf Course. Ten teams are taking part with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Regional from May 6 to May 8 in Muskogee, Okla.
The Lopers, ranked ninth in the Central Region, fired a 321. Nationally-ranked Northeastern State (300) leads with 44th-ranked Central Missouri a close second (304) and Missouri Western third (313).
Sophomore Nia Station is leading UNK, as she had two birdies and parred the last five holes to fire a 6-over-78. She is tied for ninth with NSU freshman Rosie Klausner in the overall lead with a 1-under-71.
