Nebraska announced the hiring of two senior administrators Wednesday morning.
John Johnson will join the athletic department from Washington State to be senior deputy athletic director — chief of staff to Athletic Director Bill Moos. He’ll oversee the operations of the men’s basketball department, replacing Marc Boehm, who served in that role the past 16 years.
Johnson worked with Moos at Washington State for seven years, and was at WSU for 15. He served as a senior associate athletic director.
“I am grateful to Bill Moos for the opportunity to again work with him and his outstanding team,” Johnson said in the press release. “It is an exciting time for the Huskers, and I look forward to being part of the incredible legacy and tradition that is Nebraska.”
Garrett Klassy was also hired by Moos to be Nebraska’s senior deputy athletic director for external operations. Klassy was previously the athletic director at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
“I am thrilled and honored to be joining the Nebraska team and I would like to thank Bill Moos for the opportunity to serve the University of Nebraska,” Klassy said. “Our team will work tirelessly to ensure that our student-athletes have the resources to win championships, graduate from an elite institution and prepare them for life after Nebraska.”
Both will begin July 29.
